Stateful Function as a Service at the Edge

چکیده
In FaaS, users invoke remote functions, which encapsulate service(s). These functions typically need to remotely access a persistent state via external services: this makes the paradigm less attractive in edge systems, especially for IoT applications, due increased delay and outbound traffic. We propose generalize FaaS by allowing alternate between remote-state local-state phases, depending on internal conditions, dedicating container with memory when phase. present initial results showing that simple yet powerful pattern allows better utilize available resources, are scarce nodes, while significantly reducing tail latencies, is key enable many new applications based real-time ML, e.g., smart vehicles factory scenarios
